The European Investment Bank (EIB) and Moza are providing €10 million to support Mozambican businesses, especially those led by women (40% of the funds are allocated to women-managed companies).

Objectives:

  • Contribute to economic growth and development;
  • Reduce gender inequality by offering favourable and flexible credit conditions to women entrepreneurs.

Eligible Companies:
Financing is available for companies in various sectors, including Manufacturing, Transport, Agriculture, Health, and Services, with up to 2,999 employees and meeting Moza Banco’s credit granting criteria.
To qualify for this financing, women-led companies must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • At least 51% of the share capital is held by women;
  • At least 30% of the management team consists of women;
  • 30% to 50% of the workforce consists of women;
  • The company’s products or services promote female empowerment.

 

Financing amounts, terms, and interest rates:

Working Capital Support:

  • Overdraft: minimum of 200,000 MT or equivalent in USD and maximum of 5 million MT or equivalent in USD;
  • Bill Discounting: minimum of 200,000 MT and maximum of 5 million MT.

 

Investment Credit:

  • Minimum of 500,000 MT or equivalent in USD, and maximum of 5 million MT or equivalent in USD.
    Financing in USD is only available for exporting SMEs.

 

Terms:

Working Capital Support:

  • Secured Current Account;
  • Bill Discounting.
    Working capital products have terms of up to 24 months.

Investment Credit:

  • Minimum term: 6 months;
  • Maximum term: negotiable, up to 60 months.

 

Interest Rate:

  • Financing conditions tailored to companies, with negative spreads on MT financing.

 

Other advantages:

  • Working capital financing with long maturity terms;
  • Personalized service;
  • Flexible service levels;
  • Opportunity to join the SME development academy (Pra Frente Programme).

 

Excluded Sectors:
The EIB financing line does not support sectors involved in:

  • Production of weapons and ammunition, armaments, and military or police equipment or infrastructure;
  • Equipment or infrastructure that restricts individual rights and freedoms;
  • Activities causing environmental impacts that are not substantially mitigated and/or compensated;
  • Activities considered ethically or morally controversial or prohibited by national law;
  • Activities involving production or sale of goods infringing trademarks or geographical indications;
  • Activities involving resettlement of people;
  • Gambling;
  • Activities related to tobacco.
