FERNANDO LEITE COUTO FOUNDATION

The Fernando Leite Couto Foundation (FFLC) is a Mozambican cultural institution, created in 2015 with the mission to contribute to the development of Arts and Culture as a recognized and valued economic sector in the construction of a better Mozambique. Since its genesis, FFLC has stood out as a benchmark cultural institution in the country, thanks to the quality of cultural programming, the contribution to various artistic areas, the professionalism in the organization of the activities carried out, the transparency and rigor in accountability and the outreach to an increasingly wide audience. For this reason, Moza has recognised FFLC an important partner for artistic and cultural development in the country. It is within this vision that the Bank has, since 2019, collaborated with the Foundation, supporting the implementation of various initiatives that this entity has conceived and developed in the field of art and literature, with particular emphasis on the publication of works by Mozambican writers, promotion of lectures and conversations on various topics. For this year, within the scope of this partnership, a broad and comprehensive cultural programme is planned that includes the Fernando Leite Couto Literary Prize, creative writing workshops, literary events (literary soirées, poetry recitals, lectures, debates and conversations) and the publication of literary works.

“Um Pequeno Gesto, Uma Grande Ajuda (A small gesture a great help)” association

The "Um Pequeno Gesto, Uma Grande Ajuda"(“A small gesture a great help”) Association, is a non-governmental organisation of a humanitarian nature and has its interventions focused on the implementation of projects to support poverty, infrastructure, sanitation and water holes, and education among other areas of social interest. In 2019 we joined this strategic partner to jointly develop a study support project at the Santa Luisa de Marillac School in Majangue, Chókwè district, Gaza province. This is an initiative whose main objective is to ensure that children and young people have habits and interest in their studies, thus preventing them from abandoning school early, especially at times when they are improving their academic performance. This partnership in the education and human development sector has made it possible to: Support the learning process to improve the school performance of disadvantaged children and young people. Promote study habits and interest by preventing the most vulnerable students from dropping out of school. Alleviate daily child hunger, serving as an incentive to attend academic support and relieving the family budget. Currently around 210 children attending the Santa Luisa de Marillac School benefit from this programme.

TECHNOSERVE / WIN

TechnoServe is a global non-profit organisation focused on business solutions to poverty. Among the various programmes it has under implementation in the country, Women in business (WIN) stands out, which, as its name suggests, seeks to promote the economic empowerment of women through entrepreneurship. Through the WIN program, TechnoServe is a partner of Moza Banco in the development of a financial literacy program broadcast on community radio stations called "Conta com o Moza" (Count on Moza). “Conta com o Moza” is broadcast in local languages and its main aim is to accelerate the process of financial inclusion of Mozambicans, through a focus on financial literacy, so that beneficiaries can join and make responsible and conscious use of financial services and products, resulting in improved quality of life and well-being.  In the first phase, the partnership with WIN allowed baseline studies to be conducted to ascertain the real barriers these communities face in accessing banks, their financial management habits, and their needs and expectations, in order to build an impactful, truly comprehensive and inclusive programme that was in line with the audience's profile. The partnership has also been fundamental in incorporating aspects that contribute to the promotion of gender equality in the programme, as well as in the monitoring process, providing insights leading to improvements needed to ensure the success of "Conta com o Moza".
