Moza banco will provide more than one million meticais to support the participation of the National Senior Women's Team in the pre-Olympic basketball tournament, qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

As part of the Bank’s contribution to the massification of sport, Moza Banco recently signed a partnership agreement with the Mozambican Basketball Federation, for the participation of for the participation of the Women's National Senior Basketball Team in the pre-Olympic qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020. The signing of this agreement that took place at Moza Banco's headquarters was witnessed by members of the Government, Moza's Members of the Board of Directors, athletes and representatives of National Sports’ Clubs.

Intervening moments after the signing of the agreement, the Chairman of the Board of Directors (CEO) of Moza Banco said that Moza's focus on sport aims to contribute to the construction of a company with values.

 “We want to build a society of people with values. In sport and particularly in basketball, one learns to have values, to value the group and teamwork. We want to continue to project our activities on sports, cultural and social plan," said the CEO of Moza Banco.

In turn, the President of the Mozambican Basketball Federation, Francisco Mabjaia, welcomed Moza's support, saying that it has promoted sport and basketball in particular.

“The agreement we have already signed is an important catalyst for the effort we are making to raise funds to make the pre-Olympic tournament possible, so we will spare no effort to fully implement this protocol. When we set out to host this event here in Mozambique, it was in the full conviction that ‘at home we are unbeatable’. Our goal is clear: we will be in July 2020 at the Tokyo Olympics Games’’

The “Samorais”, represented by Odélia Mafanela, promised to do their best to honour Moza's support and the national flag for the 2020 Olympics’ Games.

“We are prepared to represent the Mozambicans. We know it will not be an easy journey, but we are convinced that it is not impossible if we strive together to achieve this goal,” encouraged the best scorer of this year's national’s women’ senior basketball championship.

It should be noted that the pre-Olympic basketball qualifying tournament took place from 14 to 17 November this year at the Maxaquene Sports Pavilion in Maputo.

In the 11^th edition of the Web Summit, Moza Banco was represented at the highest level by its Chairman of the Board of Directors João Figueiredo, who was in Portugal, the country that will host the event until 2028.

The technological innovation has improved several areas of action, so it has gained attention of several institutions, particularly financial ones. The Web Summit takes place once a year since 2009.

The event that took place from 04 to 07 November, in Lisbon, Portugal, brought together more than seventy (70) thousand people from 163 countries, and two (2) thousand start-ups (emerging companies) that operate in different areas, especially technological, financial and business to find solutions to the current technological challenges that companies and the world are facing.

In this is the 11^th edition Web Summit Moza Banco was highly represented by its CEO, João Figueiredo, who believes that participating in the largest technology conference in the “Old Continent” confirms Moza's commitment to become a reference in technological innovation in the national financial sector.

“The new digital technologies play a key role in the future sustainability of organizations and banking sector is no exception. For this reason, we chose technology and innovation as a priority in our growth and expansion’s plan and to increase the quality of service we provide, said Moza Banco's CEO.

On the other hand, Figueiredo says that “Innovation must always be focused on the Customers and the local market, with efficient partnerships. But nothing can replace “Relationship” as a basic pillar in the development of institutions.”

In turn Nikolay Storonsky co-founder and President of Revolut, a company created four years ago already in place in 35 countries, including five countries outside Europe highlights the advantages of investments in technological innovation.

“It’s necessary to be independent giving that the Bank’s systems are getting old. People are not innovation-driven and there is a process of approving too long initiatives,” says the participant.

Cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and robot risks, taxation of technology’s companies and also privacy were some of the themes that dominated this Web Summit edition.

The winners of the first phase of the "Moza Já - USSD" prize’s draw, a Moza Banco initiative, aimed at encouraging the digitization of banking systems, for the transactions made through mobile phone and other digital platformsare already known.

The winners of this first phase of "Moza Já USSD" prize’s draw are Amimo Uahade, in the 1^st place, a Customer from Nampula Province, whit twenty thousand meticais award, Mateus António Martins, in the 2^nd place, a Customer from Maputo Province, whit fifteen thousand meticais award and António Muchave, in the 3^rd place, a Customer from Maputo province, whit ten thousand meticais award.

The winners of this first phase welcomed Moza Banco's initiative.

“This prize means a lot to me as it represents the Bank’s acknowledgement for the fact that I’ve been a Customer for many years. Considering that we are in December the prize came in handy and I will use it to cover the expenses of this festive season " said euphoric, Mateus Martins, the second place winner, moments after the receiving the giant cheque.

In turn, the third-place winner, António Muchave took the opportunity to encourage other Customers to use Moza Banco’s digital platforms on their everyday transactions.

“I’ve been a Moza’s Customer for years, when I heard about this prize’s draw, I decided to join the initiative using my account to pay through digital platforms the TV bills, buy vouchers for the cell-phone among other services which allowed me to be one of the lucky-ones and I am very happy, so I recommend other Customers to follow my example," encouraged one of the winners.

The Moza Já USSD prize’s draw is valid for all Moza’s Private Customers using Moza Já Service (USSD channel, accessible through *247#);

The "Use of Moza Já Service" Campaign was launched on October 3, 2019, lasting 3 months and will reward monetarily, on a monthly basis, through electronic draws, 3 (three) Customers out of a total of 9 (nine) Customers.

After the draw, the monetary prizes will be credited into the Customer’s account held in Moza and their respective winners will be contacted by their respective Account’s Managers for details.

Moza Banco is promoting, within the context of the Savings Month, a set of comprehensive and inclusive activities at national-wide level, with particular emphasis on the competition "SAVE YOUR MONEY", which will be held at the Amílcar Cabral Primary School in Lichinga city. It should be noted that currently Moza is a financial institution with the 3^rd largest branch network in the country, with a universe of 62 branches spread throughout the country and expects to open more branches by the end of the first quarter of 2020.

Moza Banco opened today, October 7, three new bank branches, one in Gaza Province (Mapai District), one in Manica Province (Machaze District) and one in Nampula Province (Nacaroa District) as part of the presidential initiative, “One District One Bank”.

These inaugurations are part of the presidential initiative "One District One Bank", which aims to boost the expansion of the banking network cover throughout the country, providing all districts with a financial institution where banking operations and financial solutions can be found adjusted to the Customers specific needs.
