Moza Banco rewards customers who use digital channels the most

Moza Banco proceeded, on 31st January 2022 to deliver prizes to its customers for their frequent use of the bank's digital platforms. The awards are the result of the competition that took place from 1st to 31st December and that was valid for all Moza Banco customers with domiciled accounts. There were winners from various parts of the country, namely: Maputo City and Province, and the provinces of Gaza, Manica, Nampula and Niassa.

The draws were held on 6th and 22nd December 2021 and the final one on 15th January 2022.

For Moza Banco, this is a competition aimed at encouraging the adhesion and use of Digital Channels by Moza customers, allowing them to make their payments for services and transfers in a secure and convenient way, particularly considering the current environment of Covid-19 prevention.

"This campaign had a commercial objective as well as one of prevention, because besides wanting to show our customers that they can find everyday banking services via our channels, we also wanted to protect them from COVID-19, avoiding unnecessary risks. Moza is a bank that cares about its customers and aims to give added value in all its campaigns." Moza Banco's Director of Marketing, Channels, Communication and Social Responsibility, João de Almeida Mota, said.

At this moment, the Bank has four (4) Digital Channels, which allow Customers to transact on their accounts remotely and with total independence, namely, Moza Net (Internet Banking), Moza Mobile (Mobile Banking), Moza Já (USSD) and Azapp (WhatsApp Banking).

Moza Banco has maintained its focus on promoting the use of Digital Channels to contain the contamination rates and spread of Covid-19 in the country.

Moza Banco donates office furniture to the Secretary of State in Sofala Province

Moza Banco recently delivered office furniture to the Secretary of State in Sofala Province, which will now serve the interests of the Government as well as the province’s population.

This act is part of Moza Banco's Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, which has as one of its main focuses the development of activities that contribute towards the economic and social progress of communities where the Bank operates, thus fostering sustainable relations with its stakeholders.

During his speech, the representative of Moza Banco, Feliciano Di-Tiane recalled that "we approached the Secretary of State of this province expressing the Bank's willingness to hand over this material, so that they could make the best use of it for the benefit of their citizens, and that it contributes, as decided by the local government, to improving the working conditions for health services and the Mozambican Police in this part of the country".

On behalf of the Council for State Representation Services in Sofala, Eduardo Faria, the initiative of Moza Banco was welcomed, "we want to express our sincere thanks for the kind and important donation made by Moza Banco to our institution, which will be applied in pursuing our institutional objectives, as we know that in a prosperous country like ours, everybody’s participation is indispensable".

With this initiative, the bank intends to contribute to the development of the province with the country’s second largest city.

In November 2021, Moza Banco handed over modules (containers adapted for offices) to Beira City council, which will be used to collect taxes and fees, according to the mayor, Albano Carige.

Moza Banco sponsors the book “Os Sobreviventes da Noite”

Moza Banco is the official sponsor of the latest literary work by the Mozambican writer Ungulani Ba Ka Khosa. This is the second edition of the prose book "Os Sobreviventes da Noite"(Survivors of the Night), in which the writer describes in detail and in an unusual way the historical reality of Mozambique in the post-independence period.

The book, published by the publishing house Cavalo do Mar, was presented to Moza Banco customers and employees this Thursday 16th December at an event in Maputo, witnessed, among other prominent figures, by the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Moza Banco, João Figueiredo. 

“Moza Banco, being an institution committed to adding value to Mozambique and Mozambicans, proudly supports this 2nd edition of the book "Os sobreviventes da noite" that, given the author's profile, and the literary and cultural richness which is are trademarks of the works that he has been publishing, we strongly believe that this is once again an excellent book, for the full pleasure of lovers of contemporary literature and others”, Moza Banco's Chairman of the Board of Directors João Figueiredo, said.

“Os Sobreviventes da Noite” is a novel that portrays the horrors of war through the voice of an appalled narrator. It addresses a present with past traces of a country with villages and towns destroyed during the war by armed groups.

Ungulani Ba Ka Khosa, the name in Tsonga (a southern Mozambique ethnic group) of Francisco Esaú Cossa, was born on 1st August 1957, in Inhaminga in Sofala province. He graduated in Law and in the Teaching of History and Geography, and has been a columnist in several newspapers, co-founder of the literary magazine Charrua, director of the National Institute of Books and Records (INLD) and the Secretary-General of the Mozambican Writers' Association.

Ba Ka Khosa is also the author of "Orgia dos Loucos" (1990), "Histórias de Amor e Espanto" (1993), "Choriro" (2009), "O Rei Mocho" (2012 – youth literature), "Entre as Memórias Silenciadas" (2013, winner of BCI prize for the year’s best book), "Cartas de Inhaminga" (2017) and "Gungunhana" (2018).

Fernando Leite Couto Literary Prize 2021

Moza Banco participated this Tuesday in the ceremony to launch the Fernando Leite Couto Literary Prize, a literary competition created in 2017 and which aims to promote and reward young Mozambican writers.

The launch of this fourth edition of the award, which marks the formal opening of the application process, took place at the Fernando Leite Couto Foundation and was attended, among other illustrious guests, by the writer Mia Couto and the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Moza Banco, João Figueiredo.

João Figueiredo noted that the initiative represents an important contribution for the growth of arts and humanities in the country. 

“The Fernando Leite Couto Award announced today, besides highlighting and exalting the legacy of a figure whose career and work history is sure to cherish, also encourages young creative artists to promote the nation’s history and identity," said João Figueiredo, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Moza Banco.

Mia Couto, on behalf of Fernando Leite Couto Foundation, stated that “This award can boost the career of young writers from anywhere in the country. I would like to thank you all for coming, in particular our partners represented here, such as Moza Banco and Camões - Portuguese Cultural Centre”.

In addition to Moza Banco, this year's edition also sees the partnerships of Camões - Portuguese Cultural Centre in Maputo, the Portugal-Mozambique Chamber of Commerce and the Municipality of Óbidos.

Since its creation, the Fernando Leite Couto Award has already had two winners, namely Macvildo Pedro Bonde, with the book of poems "Descrição das Sombras", in 2017, and Otildo Justino Guido, with the work "O Silêncio da Pele", in 2019.

Young writers who wish to apply for this new edition may submit their applications between 14th December 2021 and 28th February 2022. The winner will be announced on 16th April 2022.
